It's no lie - Mercedes Benz has surely been busy. We may know the brand for its cars and perhaps - a good logo - but following on from its recent plight of some of the most prolific fashion collaborations, Mercedes Benz has now tapped into the ingenuity of Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for its latest collaboration with New York's Proenza Schouler.
And who else better to star in its newest campaign than Laura Dern and son Ellery Harper? The capsule being one inspired by travel and our new post-pandemic world of freedom, the collection and campaign draws many parallels between fashion, versatility and the great American road trip. Wide open roads, curiosity and wanderlust takes centre stage for this visionary campaign while also celebrating family bonds, discovery, exploration and adventure.
"We wanted to create a collection inspired by travel and the open road, and used this as an opportunity to try new, environmentally responsible production methods. The experience opened our eyes to how much can be done while designing through a sustainable lens, and we are grateful to Mercedes-Benz for their partnership through this process”, say Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, designers of Proenza Schouler.
Responsible design and gender neutrality also takes the focus in this partnership. Bettina Fetzer, Vice President Communications & Marketing Mercedes-Benz states, "Ground-breaking innovations, brand-shaping design and sustainability as guiding principles across all strategic fields are at the heart of how we think and act. Today, we are presenting the first Mercedes-Benz fashion capsule collection in collaboration with the Proenza Schouler designers Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough. With the ‘Power of Two’, both brands unite by sharing the same values in offering responsible luxury design and craft".
The collection features recycled cashmere blankets, knitwear, trench coats and accessories including a recycled wool weekender tote and keychains in up cycled leather. The limited edition Mercedes Benz x Proenza Schouler collection The Power of Two is available now in stores and online, with the full campaign available to explore on proenzaschouler.com.
