Nostalgia can be a fickle thing. Often we embellish past memories of our adolescence and childhood, our imaginations revelling in the idea that the world was a little brighter back then. Edges smoothed over by the optimism of hindsight. But our inner child is enduring, and unsullied by the self-consciousness that comes as a consequence of adulthood. Tapping into that almost-forgotten playfulness, is Louis Vuitton's Prêt-à-Porter Homme team for their Spring Summer 2023 show. A manifestation of childhood dreams and fairy tales, the collection eloquently re-evokes the whimsy and nostalgia of youth, whilst also paying homage to the French maison's late Artistic Director, Virgil Abloh.
Lensed here by Tim Ashton and styled by Hannah Cooper, the garments are a playful recollection of youthful dressing, calling attention to distressed and oversized styles, adorned with kitsch embroideries and decalled kooky characters, pooling over swollen sneakers.
