In an interesting development, John Lennon has joined TikTok

Perhaps the most unexpected person to join TikTok, let alone the internet thus far has got to be John Lennon, one of the most iconic boomers of all time.

While it is of course, not actually him (unless the TikTok witches are back at it again), his account is authorised and controlled by The Lennon Estate and Universal Music Group. The account presence means that 11 songs are available for TikTok creators to use, alongside uploaded clips of some of Lennons most prolific moments. "We’re super excited to launch my dad’s official TikTok account and cannot wait to see what his fans all over the world create using his music and his message of peace and love,"  Lennons son Sean Ono Lennon said in a statement.

A sweet sentiment indeed, and one that seems to have extended to other famous boomers across the globe, including Fleetwood Mac's own Mick Fleetwood, who joined with a debut upload of him skateboarding while drinking Ocean Spray Cran-Rasberry, an ode to TikTok user Nathan Apodaca or @420doggface208's original viral video, which saw Apodaca skateboarding along the street listening to Fleetwood Mac's 'Dreams' and drinking Ocean Spray. A vibe indeed. Joining the iconic muso in his interpretation was Dr. Phil, who did his very own take on the clip, wearing a tracksuit in a golf cart, while driving around a presumed set.

So, is this the future? Somehow Gen-Z-er's and Boomers are finding the joy in TikTok and Millennials are being left behind, firm footed in the assumption that the app is reserved for 'twelvies' making dancing videos. Fine by me! you snooze you lose, as some might say, leave them to "sleep on" the wonders of the app, while the boomers harmlessly figure out how to act on such a fast moving for of social media. Who's next? David Attenborough? our vote is with him and Timothée Chalamet. We also won't be mad if Léa Seydoux were to miraculously sign up...just saying.
