Seductive baritone Jack Ladder shares a premier of his song ‘Negative Blender’ shot live at the City Recital Hall

Ahead of Hijack! The Tour, the seductive baritone Jack Ladder, shares a premier of Negative Blender shot live at the City Recital Hall, Sydney.

Sitting alone at the piano he bares an intimacy and vulnerability unseen in his former catalogue. There is an elevation in Ladder's work and his aesthetic as he performs with a prowess that only learned experience can give. With the raw feelings of an emotional hooligan, we are pulled into that voice, and those songs.

Ladder tells Russh "most of the normal album cycle didn’t happen due to 'world events', so I thought it would be good to film a few songs at the piano for posterity while I had access to the recital hall. Ian (Nessick) made me some great suits too and I wanted to see how they look on camera." Revealing more about the writing of Hijack! Ladder continues, "the song Negative Blender was written on the piano in as long as it takes to sing it. The last verses are important and true and reveals my adolescent influences, perhaps more psychological than musical."

Ladder and The Dreamlanders will be touring Australia this autumn and it is not something to be missed. After years of lockdowns and delays, Ladder explains, “These shows have been in the works for over a year. We had planned to perform in October with the release of the album which never happened. It’s been agonising waiting for the opportunity to perform this music, but if anything my excitement for these shows has only grown with every delay that’s come into play. It’s massively important to get some closure on the songs before moving onto the next thing."
