After the big news that enigmatic artist Frank Ocean will be headlining at Coachella in 2023, we couldn't have imagined he would emerge a moment sooner. But alas! God is good, and has delivered us a moment of hope, with the announcement that Ocean is launching an "American luxury company", Homer.
The first collection for Homer, will offer fine and high-end jewellery pieces alongside printed silk scarves. According to a press release, the name Homer “represents carving history into stone.” Each piece is handcrafted out of 18K gold, recycled sterling silver, hand-painted enamel and American lab-grown diamonds, a more ethical alternative to mined diamonds. Hand made in Italy, the collection includes chunky gold and silver chain-link bracelets, pendants with various different designs, diamond stud earrings, and even piercing bars.
Each piece is perfectly articulated in a collection catalogue photographed by Tyron Lebon and Ocean himself. It is 160 pages in total, and already feels like a piece of art many of us would like to get our hands on. Amid the colourful pages ocean even teases an upcoming collaboration with Prada, which would be...monumental to say the least.
At least we finally know what he has been doing all this time! In an Instagram story, Ocean wrote:
"Hand on my heart, this project has kept my mind moving and my imagination turning throughout it all. All of my work now is dedicated to my family. Everything. My hope is to make things that last, that are hard to destroy, set it in stone. I’m so fucking happy for everyone involved and I admire you and am proud of you and couldn’t have done it without you.
