Here are some of the biggest moments in fashion you might have missed this week

fashion moments

It was a busy week for the fashion girlies this week, with the Haute Couture Fall Winter 23-24 season taking over the streets of Paris and beyond. Elsewhere, New Zealand label Wynn Hamlyn launches its Pre-Fall 23 collection campaign, and Louis Vuitton takes us to the south of France of a culinary experience. Read on for what you might have missed this week, as we recount the biggest fashion moments of the last seven days.

New Christian Dior exhibition at The Galerie Dior

If you happen to be making a visit to Paris as part of your European summer escapades, be sure to pop in to explore the new Christian Dior exhibition at The Galerie Dior. An honouring of 30 Montaigne, the exhibition traces the House's destiny through archival pieces that capture the essence of Dior style. The curation offers a look into the birth of Miss Dior, a ready-to-wear line created in 1967 at the instigation of Marc Bohan, as well as a first exhibition look at the silhouettes dreamed up by Kim Jones; most notably in the “Artistic Affinities” room, which is transformed to celebrate the multiple collaborations initiated by the Artistic Director of the men’s collections.

La Galerie Dior is open every day but Tuesdays, from 11am to 7pm. Admissions stop at 5:30pm.

Wynn Hamlyn launches Pre-Fall 23 collection

Back in May, New Zealand designer Wynn Hamlyn made his return to the AAFW runway, and now the campaign for the brand's Pre-Fall 23 has officially launched. Lensed by Rob Tennent, the collection blends a new, experimental and playful mood with the label's signature restrained elegance. Hero silhouettes include ‘jigsaw’ inspired maxi dresses, bodice and mini dresses, voluminous drop shoulders, oversized structured suiting, and versatile, sport-luxe trackpants.

"I’ve always been fascinated by construction, components, and how things fit together. Just like a jigsaw puzzle, the new Pre-Fall ’23 Collection presents a showcase of irregular interlocking and mosaic-inspired pieces that, when assembled, produce a complete picture,” says Hamlyn of the collection.

Louis Vuitton reopens restaurant in Saint Tropez

If there's one place to have lunch while you're in the south of France, Louis Vuitton's newly reopened seasonal restaurant at the White 1921 Hotel should be on your list. In collaboration with Michelin-starred chef Arnaud Donckele and pastry chef Maxime Frédéric, the duo and the Maison have put their hands and heads together to design a gourmet journey born of the local terroir, a menu of Mediterranean flavours presented with relaxed, welcoming, elegant spirit, and the summer lifestyle that Louis Vuitton enthusiastically embraces.

The décor, also inspired by the world of Louis Vuitton, incorporates the blue-and-white tile pattern seen in the Maison’s new “By The Pool” resort collection, a motif appearing on everything from the tableware to the comfortable cushions at the bar in the garden. The perfect way to spend a hot summers afternoon.
