We've always made it known that when it comes to street style, Copenhagen Fashion Week is one of our favourites to observe. There is something about the Danes and the Swedes – they know how to do street style right. Never over the top, always smiling, and twice a year, for CPHFW, we get to witness everyone in one place for a week of excellent outfits.
This season, while the weather is still frosty and the AW23 shows are offering up coziness in droves, we're noticing a lot of shearling and leather bombers on the street. There are oversized, wide leg jeans, cargo pants are still making the rounds, as are balaclavas. There are Sambas and Onitsuka Tigers, Asics and a surplus of boots. Long wool coats are a natural, reoccurring staple for the winter season, and this month we're seeing both vibrant pastel shades and more subdued tones of tweeds, browns, and blacks. Additionally, gloves are back! If you were worried that the glove trend we saw all over the runway last year wouldn't translate to the streets, consider it a non-issue, with some of our favourite street style stars wearing subtle gloves and statement gloves galore.
At the shows, Rotate pulled their vibrant palette right back to a neutral scape of oversized tailoring and a whole lot of leather, while (di)vision showed an energetic collection that riffed on 90s and 00s codes of grunge and punk. It's only been day one, so we're yet to see the full scope of what the shows will offer this year, but we're excited to witness what the emerging designers of Denmark have to say on the runway, and what the guests will be wearing through the week.
