All hail, the travelling goddess of the sea for Chloé Spring Summer 2022

There seems to be a recurring theme this fashion week season. We have gone from living on the land to now being at the bottom of the sea; having every woman transform into an underwater siren for Spring Summer 2022.

And in having said that, we're not here to argue. As if that means we'll be finding ourselves cloaking head to toe in Chloé, then alas - let it be. For this season, we are here to appreciate the otherworldly goddess-like creations that staged themselves for Chloé Spring Summer 2022, another wind of success for its newly appointed creative director Gabriela Hearst.

What emerged was the Chloé woman reimagined. This time, with wet hair and adorned in oversized sea shelled necklaces and shredded crocheted bodices - quite literally appearing as if she just emerged from living under the sea. But of course, that wasn't all. As we have come to expect from Gabriela Hearst dictatorship at Chloé, the collection was also an eclectic mix of patch worked suedes and leathers, signature earthy tones and bohemian-like macrame handbags and accessories, all staged in the perfect juxtaposition of its house neutrals and an explosion of artisanal colours.

It appears as though, for this collection, accessories was key. We saw the return of the open toed sandal, platformed, strapped and laced-up; all pinned and woven with natural materials as if to reminisce the unique handicrafts one might score at a foreign marketplace throughout ones travels. The idea of travel and souvenir felt big for Chloé for Spring Summer 2022, with each piece wrapping itself up in warmth, feeling nostalgic of the salty summer surf and the feeling of scolding hot sand under a bare foot. Each piece feeling remnant of the treasures one would collect throughout their foreign seaside travels.
