‘A New Awakening’ – Burberry’s new film and capsule celebrates Chinese New Year

In celebration of Chinese New Year, Burberry has created a limited edition capsule collection. And to accompany the pieces, the house has also created a special film inspired by the great outdoors.

Burberry has always had a history of exploration and a heritage influenced by the outdoors and environment around us. Starring Burberry's ambassadors Zhou Dongyu and Song Weilong, the film called A New Awakening is a timely reminder about the important things in life. It follows the characters on a journey rebirth, framed by sensory discovery. It is a work that captures the essence and spirit of Chinese New Year and the two-week Spring Festival celebrating the arrival of the new season of renewal and regeneration.

Creative director of Burberry Riccardo Tisci said of the film:

"I have always found inspiration in nature and its energy. This film really represents our connection as humans to the outside world and the journeys we take in life, always discovering new things in both our environment and also in ourselves. I truly believe in renaissance; rebirth and new beginnings. For the new year, I think we all want to find love, balance, strength and hope – this is the real beauty in life."

As for the unique and limited edition capsule, it features a Thomas Burberry Monogram motif that celebrates the Year of the Ox – the Chinese zodiac sign associated with the earth, power and calm. The pieces include a number of Burberry classics like checked blazers and scarves. But there are also a few unexpected pieces like a horned baseball cap.
