‘Bridgerton’ season three: Everything we know so far

Hands up if you binged Bridgerton season two when it dropped? We thought as much. The good news is Bridgerton season three is happening and while we will likely have to wait until late 2023 for it to premiere on our screens, we’ve put together a guide of the details released thus far. Read on to learn all about Bridgerton season three and what we can expect.

There will be eight seasons of Bridgerton in total

Back in April 2021, Bridgerton got the go ahead for a season 3 and 4. However, we know that Shonda Rhimes has plans for the series to cover each and every book from Julia Quinn's book series. How do we know this? Because Jess Brownell, a Shondaland veteran and the new showrunner for Bridgerton season 3 in place of Chris Van Dusen, told us so.

“I think Shonda Rhimes has said publicly before that she wants to have eight seasons. We hope to get to tell every sibling’s love story and they will always be in each season,” Brownell revealed to Variety.

Which sibling will season three be based on?

Originally, when we dared to dream of season three we took our cues from the books written by Julia Quinn. Those pages dictated that season three would focus on the second eldest sibling of the Bridgerton family, Benedict. But, as we've grown more invested in the relationship between Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton, showmakers have pivoted to focus on them for the upcoming season.

Who has been cast as Colin and Penelope in Bridgerton season three?

As Nicola Coughlan portrayed Penelope Featherington and Lady Whistledown for the first two seasons of Bridgerton, she has confirmed that she will sign on to season three. The same goes for Colin Bridgerton who was brought to life by Luke Newton.

Who else will feature in season three?

Phoebe Dynevor is set to reprise her role as Daphne Bridgerton, just as Simone Ashley will stay on as the same fiery Kate Sharma, albeit with softened edges. Jonathan Bailey, Claudia Jessie, Luke Newton, Will Tilston and Florence Hunt are also returning, as is Golda Rosheuvel and Adjoa Andoh. As for the case of Francesca Bridgerton? Hannah Dodd will be taking over from Ruby Stokes, who we barely saw in the previous seasons anyway. So much so we forgot she even existed.

There will also be handful of new faces in season 3, namely Daniel Francis and Sam Phillips, who will play Marcus Anderson a “charismatic presence who lights up any room he enters,” and Lord Debling, a “genial lord with unusual interests” and “no shortage of interest from young ladies this season," respectively.
