Ewan and Clara McGregor are bringing their father-daughter bond to the big screen

bleeding love film

As much as everyone loves to harp on about nepo babies, you can't deny the onscreen chemistry when a real life parent and child get a chance to get act together. We witnessed it between Margaret Qualley and Andie McDowell in Maid, and earlier with Jaden and Will Smith in The Pursuit of Happiness. Soon enough we can add Ewan and his eldest daughter Clara McGregor to that list, with the pair set to co-star in the road movie drama Bleeding Love.

What's Bleeding Love about?

After a near fatal overdose, a young woman sets out on a spur-of-the-moment road trip with her estranged father. As the pair make their way across the desert to Santa Fe, they must confront the root cause of their fractured relationship.

“The film explores many complicated, emotional issues – family clashes, love, loss, addiction – and how individuals react to their circumstances,” says Vertical CEO, Peter Jarowey. “But it also illuminates how these two flawed characters can rise above the turmoil, heal, and reconnect."

Who's involved?

Besides Ewan and Clara McGregor, who's presence together onscreen has been likened to a “lightning in a bottle”, Vera Bulder, Travis Hammer and Jake Weary also star.

The film is the directorial debut of Dutch director Emma Westernberg, and the script was written by Ruby Caster.

Is there a release date?

Originally the film made its world premiere at SXSW in 2023 under the name You Sing Loud, I Sing Louder. In the time since, it's name has been workshopped to Bleeding Love, which is probably due to the Leona Lewis song sequence in the film.

The movie will debut in theatres across the US from February 16. There's no word yet on a UK or Australian release date. Won't somebody think of us for once, please!
