Cailee Spaeny just spilled some details on the upcoming ‘Beef’ Season 2

If you're hungry for more of that juicy tension from Beef Season 1, the good news is another season is imminently on the way. And after plenty of speculation about who might be season two's epic frenemies (since the show is looking at being an anthology series, rather than a continuation of Amy and Danny's storyline), we finally have answers.

Critically-acclaimed actors Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton and Cailee Spaeny will take the lead in season two of Beef. Naturally, double the cast members means double the grievances. For everything we know, read on...

What is the plot of Beef season 2?

According to Netflix, season two will follow a slightly different plot: "A young couple witnesses an alarming fight between their boss and his wife, triggering a chess-like sequence of favorus and coercion, within the elitist world of a country club owned by a billionaire."

Spaeny just teased the new season while on the carpet at Monday’s premiere of Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, saying this new season is "as batsh*t as the first one. What’s fun about this one, is that it’s beef between couples and different generations."

The first season of the series is staged around a road rage incident which spawns bad blood between a self-made entrepreneur and a struggling contractor. As the series progresses, the stakes of the feud begin to unravel their relationships.

Like season one, it will see Lee Sung Jin return as director, and season one stars Steven Yuen and Ali Wong signed on to executive produce.

Who is cast in Beef season 2?

As of October last year, Netflix officially confirmed that our beefing couples would be played by Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan, who'll be leading the charge, alongside Charles Melton and Cailee Spaeny.

Deadline had originally reported the names of four actors being tossed into the ring to star in season 2 of Beef. Lee Sung Jin reportedly had his eyes on Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway, co-stars in 2010 romcom Love & Other Drugs, as the first couple.

Is there a trailer?

Not yet. But it's looking like filming is all but completed – so hopefully one is on the horizon.

When will Beef season 2 be released?

Admittedly, it's still early days, and Netflix is yet to provide any concrete release date for season two. In the meantime, you can air out your most petty grievances by re-watching season one, which is currently streaming on Netflix.

What we do know is that the story will play out via eight 30-minute episodes.
