The Australian Chamber Orchestra announces a hybrid of live and digital concerts for 2021 season

Australian Chamber Orchestra 2021

The Australian Chamber Orchestra is diving straight in to 2021, announcing its most ambitious season to date – creating a hybrid series of both live and digital concerts throughout the year. Following a devastating year for the arts, with festivals, concerts and exhibitions cancelled across the globe, the Australian Chamber Orchestra is looking to welcome a new musical era in 2021.

Its robust 2021 season features seven live concert programs, opening in New South Wales in February and touring nationally from May 2021, alongside eight 50-minute concert films premiering through the launch of a pioneering new digital concert experience – ACO StudioCasts – from February 2021.

The Australian Chamber Orchestra will open its live season in Wollongong and Sydney this month with composer Arvo Pärt's influential Tabula Rasa – which, was originally the first concert to be performed on their 2020 program. The first national tour of the season will see members of the Australian Chamber Orchestra perform Schubert's Quintet in Melbourne for the first time in over a year; and will close with a nation-wide tour of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons in November 2021

“After what has been a challenging year for many, we’re delighted to announce that in 2021 we will be performing at least twice in all our major touring hubs across the country," said Richard Evans, managing director of the Australian Chamber Orchestra in a press statement.

"We also launch ACO StudioCasts, our very first digital subscription, for both our live audiences and those who cannot get to our concerts."

Alongside the orchestra's monumental live season, the Australian Chamber Orchestra will be following on from the success of their first digital series – ACO HomeCasts – with their pioneering digital concert experience, ACO StudioCasts. Drawing on over a decade of producing films, the Australian Chamber Orchestra are collaborating with leading directors and cinematographers to create intimate and immersive cinematic experiences shot in iconic locations including Sydney’s Town Hall and Carriageworks.

The films will compliment the live season by bringing the sounds of the orchestra to audiences around the world; alongside premium content featuring insights from Richard Tognetti, the Orchestra and special guests to enhance people’s understanding and appreciation of the music.

"As Australia’s most travelled Orchestra, we are committed to bringing transformative musical experiences to all audiences across the world and ACO StudioCasts does just that in true ACO style.”
