Rooney Mara is poised to play Audrey Hepburn in new Apple Biopic

Audrey Hepburn Biopic

We've been blessed with some truly wonderful biopics over the last few years. It seems the revival of reviewing Old Hollywood for the big screen will see no sign of slowing down anytime soon. The latest of this comes from filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, who is set to look into the life of Audrey Hepburn. The film is set to star Rooney Mara, and will chronicle the life and career of the Belgium-born ingénue.

Mara has had quite the career under her belt starring previously in the Oscar nominated film The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and alongside Cate Blanchett in the film Carol where she garnered another nomination. She is also set to come on as the producer for this film; indicating this will be one to watch for next years award season. As for Guadagnino, his previous work includes Call Me By Your Name, the coming of age romance, starring Timothée Chalamet. The film went on to take home the Oscar for best adapted screenplay and secured Chalamet an Oscar nomination, thrusting him into the Hollywood elite.

The Apple Biopic will be written by playwright Michael Mitnick. Mitnick previously composed for the HBO series Vinyl produced by Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger. It's safe to say that the film will be in great musical hands here. While not much is known about the film so far, rest assured fashion will be a prominent fixture. We can expect some key moments, including the close relationship of Hepburn with Hubert de Givenchy. Givenchy being a seminal figure in Hepburn's fashion career, including the design of her town hall wedding dress and the iconic LBD in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

While we anxiously await the film release, take a look at some of our Oscar picks for the upcoming year ahead.
