Airbnb have just made us an offer we can’t refuse with the opportunity to move to Sicily for one year

Airbnb

Pinch us, we must be dreaming. After what has felt like an eternity in pandemic purgatory, the wonderful community at Airbnb have granted us a welcome reprieve. If you've ever wished to spend your days in the Italian sunshine, immersing yourself in the language, olive picking, drinking Chianti or just general wayward wanderlust, it seems your wishes may soon be granted – with the company offering one person, their partner, friend or family the opportunity to move to Sicily.

Upon selection, the recipient will move to Sicily where they will reside and host an Airbnb. The winner will live in a contemporary designed space by architectural firm Studio Didea, as part of a larger campaign project named "1 Euro House" in a bid to boost tourism. In a press release issued, the Mayor of Sambuca di Sicilia claimed this as a wonderful opportunity; stating that "the beauty of the campaign is that it gives a second chance not just to an abandoned heritage home in the heart of our village — it’s also a second chance to the person who moves into it.”

The Major went to say that they are looking for an individual looking to immerse themselves in the culture. Someone willing to take part in all the local community fare, from the grape harvests to the olive picking. This is an opportunity to expand horizons, and meet new people from all around the world.

We're all but convinced, so where do we sign?

In terms of conditions of entry, anyone who is over the age of 18, speaks English and is available to relocate to Sambucca for at least a three month stint from June 30th is eligible to apply. Begin your journey to the most enviable European summer holiday on the Airbnb website.
