Looks like FX can handle the heat and are staying in the kitchen – The Bear has been greenlit for a third season. By all accounts it was an easy choice. The breakout Hulu series, created by Christopher Storer, was initially intended for a limited run. But that was before the internet decided to test how far it could stretch the phrase "yes chef" as a meme.
Now that the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are officially over, it's looking like season three's production is already underway. White himself said in a recent interview that several episode scripts had already been written (though he hadn't personally read them just yet), and that "...in January I’m going to spend a fair amount of time getting together with some chefs. And I know that I’m going to start putting together [The Bear's] menu with different chefs and cooking and just trying to get prepared to do more of that stuff on camera.”

So while it's not super yet clear what route season three will take plot-wise, we're enjoying the intimacy of spending an episode with each of the ensemble cast members. Which leads us on to the subject of returning characters.
When is The Bear season three being released?
This just in: The third season of The Bear will be released on Hulu on June 27, 2024. All 10 episodes of the forthcoming season will drop all at once on the streaming platform.
Production started in February 2024 following the now-resolved delays of the WGA Writer's strikes. All episodes of the third season of The Bear have now been cleared for immediate release.
For the Australian contingent, Season 3 will also debut on June 27 exclusively on Disney+ in the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Gibraltar, the Balkans, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines, and be available on Disney+ in all other territories at a later date. For once, we'll be getting the goods delivered piping hot from the kitchen.
What will season 3 focus on?
Where the first season of The Bear depicted Jeremy Allen White's Carmy and Ayo Edebiri's Sydney on a mission to save their beloved Chicago sandwich shop from going to seed, the second season focused on transforming The Beef, and its surviving staff, into an institution worthy of a Michelin star.
We leave the characters at a make-or-break moment. They've managed to pull off the soft opening of The Bear by the skin of their teeth – even if Carmy got locked in the walk-in fridge. Natalie's about to pop, with a new baby Berzatto on the way. Communication between Carmy and his team has eroded, and the chef has sabotaged his romance with Claire, played by Molly Gordon.
Season 3 of The Bear will likely pick up with Carmy’s restaurant’s re-opening. We last witnessed the ensemble of cooks in the Season 2 finale during Friends and Family Night. A couple of loose threads remain unanswered after season two, including where the buildup to Carmy and Claire’s will they won't they, whether The Bear will be a raging success and if Carmy will need to foot Uncle Jimmy’s massive loan.
Who is involved?
As production is yet to begin, we don't have a clear understanding on who will star in the third season. There are some safe bets however, including Allen White, Edebiri, Matty Matheson – who doubles as executive producer, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, L-Boy, Liza Colón-Zayas, Molly Gordon and Abby Elliott.
Given the success of the series, we're certain season three will be crammed with further high-profile cameos, as we saw with the inclusion of Olivia Colman, Will Poulter, Jamie Lee Curtis, Sarah Paulson, and Bob Odenkirk. It seems like every actor once a piece of the pie. Our casting requests? Jeremy Strong, Paris Hilton, maybe Edebiri's bestie, Rachel Sennott?
