Paul Mescal’s fashion evolution from footy shorts to Gucci suits

Paul Mescal's style

Paul Mescal's style choices have been making waves since he first appeared on our screens in Hulu’s Sally Rooney adaptation Normal People, where he sported Gaelic football shorts and that infamous silver chain necklace (the one that spawned its own Instagram account of course).

The Irish actor's career has only gone from strength to strength since, being nominated for 'Best Actor' at the Academy Awards for his role in A24's Aftersun, and starring in the sell-out stage production of A Streetcar Named Desire, the Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Tennessee Williams. And all the while, Mescal's been honing his fashion sensibilities, favouring left-of-centre formalwear alongside more classic silhouettes.

Below, we round up some of Paul Mescal's best style moments in his budding career so far.
