Levi’s and Naomi Osaka launch an exclusive 4-piece upcycled capsule collection

With the 2020 Olympic Games just gone, Naomi Osaka is an athlete, star and verified household name. Having etched herself in the tennis hall of fame, now the Japanese-Haitian Olympic athlete has partnered with Levi's, to collaboratively a denim collection, celebrating heritage, history and sustainability in fashion.

Rest assured, the whole world is familiar with Levi's. From its much loved 501's to its popular sturdy high rise, we now come to see the brand enter new territory into kimono's, obi belts and denim shorts all in celebration of Naomi Osaka's Japanese heritage and focus in fashion sustainability. The collection remains playfully endearing; having reimagined denim bustiers made from up-cycled trucker caps and bejewelled lace up denim shorts, the collection's exclusive, but small, four piece capsule highlighting repurposed fabrics and reworked materials into new pieces reflective of the athletes personal style and heritage.

As told in a recent press release to WWD, Naomi Osaka states, "I always loved wearing kimonos when I was a kid... So, to be able to do it in denim felt really different and a bit unexpected.”

It has been announced that the Levi's x Naomi Osaka capsule collection will be available online exclusively on the Levi's app from August 24th. A definite rising star in the world of fashion and ambassadorship, this partnership with Levi's being one to follow on from the athletes successful feature and participation in the brands Levi's 501 campaign from earlier this year. Also just having taken on a fashion ambassadorship role with Louis Vuitton, Nike and Yonex, the Levi's x Naomi Osaka capsule sees to further launch her influence in the industry and surely looks to not be her last.
