Who is Briana Hollingsworth? Meet the TikToker turning runway into food

briana hollingsworth

In the blur of microtrends and algorithmic aesthetics that is the TikTok FYP, few creators actually manage to stop our scroll. But Briana Hollingsworth has done exactly that, and it's all thanks to her food that looks like it just walked off the runway.

On TikTok, the South Jersey-based creator is blending two of our favourite things (food and clothes), and building a world where fashion doesn’t just inspire — it’s consumed. Literally. Everything you need to know about the creator redefining what it means to be a TikTok foodie, below.

So, who is Briana Hollingsworth?

You might know her best under her TikTok username, @matrixxgirl. Or perhaps your best familiar with her creations themselves — dishes that look equal parts fashionably avant garde and delectable. Think: a glacial cod dish inspired by Dolce & Gabbana AW06, or a parmesan Alfredo with dried mushrooms, modelled after a pair of Rick Owens Geobaskets.

She's relatively new to the platform, but has already earned nearly 16k followers (and just under 130k likes) for her uncanny ability to turn runway moments into food. And it's not just the meals themselves that have inspired Hollingsowrth. Her latest project is creating serveware inspired by a Rick Owens photography book. Needless to say, the result resembles something you'd find on SSENSE.

What’s her background in cooking?

Hollingsworth’s connection to food began young. As she shared in a recent interview with Dazed, she started taking cooking classes around the age of 10, inspired by her late uncle, who graduated from a top culinary school and has remained a key influence in her creative life.

She didn’t pursue formal culinary training herself, instead teaching herself through experimentation — diving into recipes, learning techniques from scratch, and paying close attention to the aesthetics of plating. Her focus has always been on food as a visual medium, something that’s as much about form as flavour.

According to Dazed, she briefly posted food content in 2023 but stepped away when the inspiration wasn’t quite there. It wasn’t until just a few weeks ago when she started pulling from the world of fashion — studying runway shows and designer collections — that her creative energy returned. That’s when her now-signature concept took shape: translating high fashion into plated dishes.

Is she launching a cookbook?

Something is definitely cooking (no pun intended). In her Dazed interview, Hollingsworth hinted that she has collaboration with a friend on what she described as a food lookbook in the works. While she hasn’t shared many details yet, it sounds like it will combine visual storytelling with her signature approach to fashion-inspired plating. We will surely eat it up.
