Uber Eats took me to Bundaberg, and you’re probably wondering… why?

In the not so bright and very early hours of Tuesday morning, I did one of the bravest things I have ever done. No, it wasn't a 6am jog in Sydney's arctic temperatures, and nor was it letting my alarm go to snooze for the fourth time while knowing the traffic to the office was only getting worse by the second (although, it wouldn't be the first time). My moment of bravery – which was entirely major for a control freak – involved donning my best black tie attire and trusting Uber Eats to cart me off to a completely undisclosed location. Not by car, or train, but by plane. Yes, this is beginning to read like Dr. Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham.

Your first question is probably, why? And it's a pretty valid one. But when you receive an invite that mentions nods to Paris and a mention of an exclusive beverage with a limited-edition run, you can only imagine I was curious. However, no amount of speculating and 'investigative journalism' could have prepared me for what was to come. An iconic partnership for the ages, Uber Eats and Bundaberg Rum Distilling Company took us to where the magic happens, to unveil the launch of Maison de Bundy’s Blanc de Cane – aka, sugarcane champagne.

Yes, that's right, Bundaberg Rum has finally turned its fabled nickname into a reality. The latest drop added to the distilleries ongoing collection is a new alcoholic ginger beer made with white Queensland cane spirit and Bundaberg Ginger Beer; complete with all the french touches in way of a specially-designed premium label and bottle. And where else but the land of the platinum to celebrate?

If you're feeling envious that I was able to bring my very own bottle of sugarcane champagne home with me, the good news is that you too can also score a bottle yourself. On Friday June 10 and Saturday June 11, the limited-edition run of just one thousand bottles will be be available free for Uber Eats customers to enjoy at locations in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.

Anyone looking to get their hands on Maison de Bundy Blanc de Cane just needs to head to Sydney’s The Civic Hotel, Melbourne’s The Sporting Globe (Richmond) or Brisbane’s Leonards and Dawn, show their Uber Eats app to bar staff from 5pm on Friday and toast to the weekend. And a long weekend at that!

If you don't happen to make it to one of the collections, not all hope is lost. You can still unlock 30% off selected Bundy products on Uber Eats from Thursday 9th June until Monday 13th. Sugarcane champagne showers for all, it seems.
