AppleTV+ have today released their first trailer for the series, which you can watch below.

What is the plot of The New Look?

As previously stated, the series will focus on the rise of Christian Dior and his feud with Coco Chanel, who he eclipsed as a leading figure in fashion. The series will take place against the back drop of World War II Nazi occupation of 1940s Paris, and will be inspired by true events.

In a press release by Apple TV+, the series will focus on the evolving moments in the 20th century when Paris brought fashion back to life. The show will also include prominent stories of Pierre Balmain, Cristóbal Balenciaga, Hubert de Givenchy, Pierre Cardin and Yves Saint Laurent.

As for the title, it pays homage to Dior’s inaugural collection in 1947 where he introduced the “new look,” a style featuring a cinched in waist and a full skirt. The new look celebrated femininity and women’s fashion at a time following the many years of uniformed, utilitarian dress during the war.

Who is in the cast of The New Look?

The film is set to include Emmy-winning actor Ben Mendelsohn, best known for his role in Netflix’s Bloodline, who has been cast to play Dior. French actress Juliette Binoche, best known for her roles in The English Patient and Chocolat, will play the role of Chanel.

We'll also see Game of Thrones favourite Maisie Williams take on the role of Dior's sister, Catherine, who inspired much of his work, and who was a freedom fighter during WW11.
