The Inspired Co’s latest project celebrates Australia’s sustainable designers

The Inspired Co

The Inspired Co is a unique operation. It's a collective, a collaborative online space that seeks to unite and spotlight emerging designers and creatives. The Inspired Co website profiles and features smaller, independent, local Australian and sustainably-driven designers and artists, allowing consumers to discover new labels and access them all in the one place.

The mission of this collaborative organisation is to celebrate independent fashion and design - and its latest project is all about shopping locally and consciously.

Titled An Ode To Australia, this creative project brings together some of the best emerging labels in Australia. Inspired by our time in isolation, The Inspired Co worked with four photographers and ten unique and considered Australian brands. Together they created a photo diary showcasing Australia's creative talent.

You wouldn't know it when you take in the incredible collection, but the four shoots for An Ode To Australia were all conceived and executed under quarantine conditions in July 2020. Lockdown for many has been a time of isolation and one with many challenges. But this particular project serves as a reminder of the resilience of our creative community, showcasing the ingenuity of this incredible collective. Even under conditions where others struggle, these artists committed to showing their creative spirit in some of the most creatively challenging conditions.

An Ode To Australia saw is a collection of four photoshoots, one each by photographers Carmen Rose, Lian Hurvitz, Brie Conomos and Steph Pedersen. These photographers worked with 10 independent Australian labels from The Inspired Co collective: UNIK by USSelfe Studios, Sunshine Symbol, Palma Martin, Muse the Label, Helana Mckenzie, Elvis et Moi, Lylou the Label, Two Green Stones and Noble Label

Photographer Carmen Rose began the project by staging a photoshoot in her home with Helana McKenzie Designs, Lylou the Label and Two Green Stones. Other shoots took place in open air locations, showing off the beauty of Australia's landscapes.

Through An Ode to Australia and its other projects, The Inspired Co also seeks to bring you closer to the creatives behind independent Australian designers and artists. Its intimate profiles and focus on sustainability calls out to the idea of slow fashion.
