
Australasia’s most celebrated art fair, Sydney Contemporary, has officially unveiled its highly anticipated 2025 program – and it’s bigger, bolder, and more immersive than ever.
Set to take over Carriageworks from 11–14 September, the fair promises a dynamic blend of contemporary art, live performances, provocative talks, and hands-on experiences for all ages where you can discover and collect works from 114 exhibitors and over 500 artists. The 2025 edition features 114 leading exhibitors from across Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand, London, Los Angeles, and Hong Kong, showcasing thousands of never-before-seen works. With a focus on energy, innovation and discovery, this year’s fair is set to be an unmissable cultural highlight.
When is it?
The event runs for four days in September. The exact dates are as follows:

Installations
Installations 2025, curated by José Da Silva, will be presenting nine ambitious site-specific works that transform Carriageworks into an immersive sensory environment. Expect shimmering discs from Lisa Reihana and sound-responsive light from Jonny Niesche.
Talks
The Talk Contemporary program returns with punchy, surprising discussions curated by Michael Do and Stephen Todd. Expect everything from couples in the art world opening up in From the Love Seat, to deep dives into design, disruption, and cultural commentary with panels like My brat summer and Designing Spaces for an Artful Life.
Performances
Performance takes centre stage too, with new works by Christian Thompson AO and Kalisolaite ‘Uhila exploring identity, endurance, and transformation through sound and ritual.
Kids
Families aren’t being left out either – Kid Contemporary invites young creators to get hands-on with artist Glenn Barkley’s “Positive! Affirmation! Workshop!”, while a new Family Pass makes it even easier to bring the whole crew.
