Shona Joy offers the perfect summer wardrobe with Resort 23 runway show

Bondi Pavilion always feels like a special place to be. Situated in the middle of the beach looking over the crystal water, if there is a better view in Bondi, we are yet to be acquainted with it. On Tuesday November 8, after months of endless rain, the skies cleared for Shona Joy's first ever runway show for their Resort 23 collection, TROPICO.

Something about the beach post-rain feels anew. Everything is sparkling and eye-squintingly clear, refreshed and dried off. Inside the walls of the Pavilion, this was the case as the grounds were built out with lush tropical plants, shady palms, wicker lounges and canvas sun chairs sat in clusters for guests of Shona Joy. As the sun beat gloriously down, Bambi Northwood-Blyth emerged down the stairs, in a bikini (the runway show was part of the brands first foray into swimwear) and a floral sarong with a matching print.

There were 37 exits, a mix of ready-to-wear and swimwear was layered together, offering up inspiration for the perfect summer wardrobe in a palette of blacks, earth tones, creams, and beiges. There were tonal, floral printed two piece button down sets and fluid tailoring. Mini dresses with criss-cross straps provided seasonal playfulness while the five closing exits – a quintet of cream silk dresses and suits injected lightness into the collection.

Swimwear felt classic and enduring, designed responsibly in environmentally friendly recycled nylon, ECONYL®, manufactured from regenerated raw materials such as fabric scraps, carpet flooring, fishing nets, industrial plastics, ocean and landfill waste, that would otherwise pollute the Earth. There were simple triangle bikinis in black, white, rust and the brand's custom floral print, while one pieces featured delicate cut outs and ruched necklines, rounding out an effortless collection that ushers in a new era for the brand.

Shona Joy’s swimwear collection will be available to purchase online from the 17 November. With each swim garment sold, a donation will be made to SurfAid as part of Shona Joy’s ongoing partnership.
