Shipwrecked with Jess Blanch and a bottle of Dom Pérignon

I'm in love with the world through the eyes of a girl who's still around the morning after …
- Eliott Smith, Say Yes.

What would you take to a deserted island?  If you visit Lizard Island: just something to play Elliot Smith on and a healthy appetite for Dom Pérignon and lobster rolls.

Do ...
Lizard Island is on our incredible Great Barrier Reef, so all you’ll want to do is find ways to explore the wonder. There are endless options but each day should include a snorkel session and if you’re not yet into fishing, now is the time to start. In addition, there are 24 private beaches for pretending to be shipwrecked, isolated picnics, super-secret sun exposure and dinner under the stars.

Stay ...
Indulgent luxury but without anything superfluous. I loved the beachfront suites for easy access for a snorkel, but will be heading back for a stay in the villa with some of my friends and family for a tropical escape with a natural seclusion and privacy I could only have dreamed of. Just the right amount of Robinson Crusoe. An ideal place for a digital detox, as there are only some places on the island that have wi-fi reception and they are not where the action happens.

Take ...
Anything from Loewe’s Spring 2018 collection, a cream pair of swimmers (it’s all about blending in here) and sunscreen by Susanne Kaufmann. Personalised pyjamas courtesy of Jasmine and Will awaiting my arrival.

Taste ...
1996 Dom Pérignon paired with locally produced seafood and prepped by executive chef Ryan Locke. Plus all the fruit tropical North Queensland has to offer.
