When will it be released?
Some media outlets have reportedly confirmed the production and release timeline for the next season of Severance. Season three is reportedly filming from April to December 2026. (Supposedly, the strong performance of the last season has pressured AppleTV to speed up production to avoid another long gap between seasons.)
The season is expected to premiere in mid-2027, with June rumoured as the target.

Series creator Dan Erickson admitted that seasons of the show were time-consuming to create. "Season two actually took about the same amount of time as season one. The difference, of course, is that for season one, nobody knew what the show was and so they weren’t waiting for it," he explained.
Erickson did, however, express hope that season three would be fast-tracked a little. "I certainly would like it to [take less time], yeah," he said. "You’re always looking to sort of fine-tune the process and take what works and leave what doesn’t work and streamline things."
Ben Stiller won't be directing
For the first time, the upcoming season won't have any episodes directed by series creator, Ben Stiller. Speaking to the LA Times, Stiller said: “These things take time to come together, and the older you get, the more you realise that you only have so much time.”
Obviously, fans of the series (and the RUSSH team) panicked at this news. But Stiller took to X to assure us he will still be involved. “It’s been full time the last 8 months working on season 3 and I’m not going anywhere,” he wrote. “We have incredible directors and a team that creates the show. I love directing it and look forward to at some point again for sure. I feel like season 3 is going to be the best yet as we continue to evolve.”
What will Severance season 3 be about?
Understandably, details are being kept pretty tightly under wraps. While executive producer and director Ben Stiller hasn't dropped any hints about possible plot lines, he did confirm he's on board for the next season, so we can except whatever's coming to be good. "Making Severance has been one of the most creatively exciting experiences I’ve ever been a part of,’ Stiller said. ‘While I have no memory of this, I’m told making season three will be equally enjoyable, though any recollection of these future events will be forever and irrevocably wiped from my memory as well."
Lead actor Adam Scott expressed a similar sentiment, saying, "I couldn’t be more excited to get back to work with Ben, Dan, the incredible cast and crew, Apple and the whole Severance team. Oh, hey, also – not a huge deal, but if you see my innie, please don’t mention any of this to him. Thanks."
And Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, hinted that the wheels were already in motion for the upcoming season. "What Ben, Dan, Adam and the talented cast and crew behind Severance have brought to the screen is undeniable magic,’ he said. "We’re so proud to be the home for this brilliant series and look forward to audiences experiencing what’s in store for season three."
