If you’ve ever felt caught between the hopeful idealism of your twenties and the complicated realities of your thirties, Saturn Return is about to become your new favourite film. Just like the astrological phenomenon it's name after, this Netflix original explores the messy journey of self-discovery during the pivotal decade that shapes us all. Here's what you need to know.
Who’s involved?
Excitingly, the film reunites two of our favourite actors of the moment, and recent co-stars in A24's Warfare: Will Poulter and Charles Melton. For Melton, it's his second time working with Netflix — the first time being for the Oscar-nominated May December, for which he earned rave reviews. Appearing alongside them is Rachel Brosnahan, who most recently appeared in Superman and The Amateur.
Saturn Return is directed by Greg Kwedar, who was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for the film Sing Sing. The film is produced by Plan B (the production company behind some of today’s most acclaimed films), alongside Emily Wolfe.
What is it about?
Specific plot details are under wraps, however it seems likely that the film is named after the idea of a 'saturn return' — the astrological phenomenon symbolising major life transitions around age 29-30. It's said to chart themes of love, loss, and the complications of growing up, as it tracks a decade-long romance. It's not clear just yet which of the actors this romance will be between.
When can you watch it?
While Netflix has secured the film, the exact release date for Saturn Return is yet to be announced. Given the cast’s recent projects and Netflix’s slate, we expect to see it either directly on the streamer, or in cinemas first, in late 2026. We'll keep you updated once we know more.
