Netflix just dropped the trailer for Monster: The Ed Gein Story, and while Charlie Hunnam’s haunting turn as the notorious killer is grabbing headlines, the real shocker is who else shows up: Addison Rae.
Yes, the TikTok sensation-turned-actress is stepping into Ryan Murphy’s world of true crime horror, and fans can’t stop talking about it.

What's it about?
The series is the latest chapter in Murphy and Ian Brennan’s hit anthology, following Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. This time, the spotlight is on Ed Gein, whose gruesome 1950s crimes inspired classics like Psycho and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
Alongside Rae and Hunnam, the cast features Laurie Metcalf as Gein’s domineering mother and Tom Hollander as none other than Alfred Hitchcock.
Who is Addison Rae playing?

Rae plays Evelyn, a small-town babysitter whose fate is tied to Gein’s terrifying crimes. In the trailer, her character is tormented in unsettling glimpses that show just how dark this series plans to go. For Rae, who broke into Hollywood with the rom-com He’s All That and has since been riding out a pretty successful career as a pop star, it’s a dramatic if unexpected pivot.
“I’m such a big fan of Charlie [Hunnam] and he’s so amazing," Rae said on Netflix's blog Tudum. "I’ve never worked on a production that felt so intentional in every piece. And I think that is really inspiring to be around.”
What makes Rae’s casting so fascinating is how unexpected it feels — and how fitting it actually is. Murphy has a history of putting surprising actors in the centre of his stories (who could forget Ariana Grande in Scream Queens or Lady Gaga in American Horror Story?) , and Rae’s leap into horror could mark a turning point in her budding acting career. The trailer suggests Evelyn will be one of the show’s most memorable characters, making Rae a possible breakout in a whole new genre.
When does it come out?
Monster: The Ed Gein Story will premiere on 3 October 2025 on Netflix — just in time for Halloween season.
