When it rains, it pours. And if we know anything about Sydney's unpredictable summer forecast, it's that humidity and open sky's go hand in hand. But the guests in attendance at last night's RUSSH x Louis Vuitton Residency celebration proved that unfavourable weather doesn't have to get in the way of a good party.
Walking into the the House's temporary space is akin to entering the mind of the late Virgil Abloh. A rainbow wheel of colour engulfs you – mind, body and soul – as you're greeted with a larger than life statue of the man himself. Cascading upwards, Abloh's energy guided guests to the fourth floor, overlooking the city's bustling King Street; where models, creatives and RUSSH purists rain danced on the open rooftop as our March Lust issue made its way through the crowd. The only way up? The elevator to end all elevators. Covered in the Louis Vuitton signature monogram, of course.
A celebration of our Lust issue on sale March 3, starring cover star Zinnia Kumar swathed in Louis Vuitton, artist Ziggy Ramo set the mood spinning soulful, heart and body warming tracks that had kept us moving through every last rain drop. Cyril Hahn's remix of Destiny's Child's track, Say My Name, became the anthem of the night; as trays of vodka collins, whisky sour's and bubbling champagne floated around the space.
Lust issue star Odell Mun and Outwst were sure to keep the mood high, channeling the energy of Abloh's final collection for Louis Vuitton amongst the crowd. Conversations of lust, creativity and connection were had and naturally, TikTok's were made. Instagram live, no more – it's the FYP or nothing.
Friends of RUSSH Hanan Ibrahim, Christelle Scifo, Otis Hope Carey, Jeet Pavlovic and Tilly Lawless – to name a few – were all in attendance; with contributing editor Kitty Callaghan capturing every special moment from the night on camera.
