The ‘RUSSH’ editors share their Spotify Wrapped for 2025

Another year, another avalanche of Wrapped screenshots — and yes, the RUSSH editors are adding to the pile on. We've compared notes, confronted our listening choices, and accepted our fates. From 2000s anthems, to certified bangers of the last 12 months, here are the songs and artists that dominated the RUSSH teams' Spotify Wrapped.

Alys Hale

Music Editor and Creative Producer

Top songs:

  1. Piano and Strings - Henry Mancini
  2. Rain - Walter Wanderly
  3. Soul Vibrations - Dorothy Ashby
  4. Suffering Jukebox - Silver Jews
  5. Mother of Pearl - Scribble

Top artists:

  1. Silver Jews
  2. Brian Ferry
  3. Pino D’angio
  4. Dorothy Ashby
  5. Claude Debussy

Ok, I am shocked, as someone who predominantly listens to poetic, angry women and sad, romantic men, I seem to have really settled into a lot of Classical and Jazz? Have I lost my edge in my Spotify age of 75? I am a big fan of ‘dinner music’ and often this requires instrumental pieces so perhaps I’ve just been really into hosting this year? Not surprised that Dave Berman still rules my heart, and having a look at the top songs the larger playlist feels slightly more reassuring, plenty of Dori Ghezzi, Pulp, and Lost Animal.

Mia Steiber

Digital Strategy Director & Associate Publisher

Top songs:

  1. The Summoning - Sleep Token
  2. Anthem for the Year 2000 - Silverchair
  3. Drag Me Out - Archers
  4. Be Quiet and Drive - Deftones
  5. Take Me Back To Eden - Sleep Token

Top artists:

  1. Sleep Token
  2. Deftones
  3. The Butterfly Effect
  4. Lana Del Rey
  5. Linkin Park

I’m an Apple Replay girl and my list was very predictable. I tend to get very obsessed with a song and have it on replay for a week or more, and my list is very representative of this. I discovered Sleep Token in January and they pretty much dominated my playlists after that. I also have tickets to Deftones next year, so their appearance is no surprise either. You can see a little bit of Lana slipped in there, otherwise I am firmly a listener of sad girl music of the indie metal persuasion.

Top songs:

  1. Relationships - HAIM
  2. 365 featuring shygirl - Charli xcx
  3. party 4 u - Charli xcx
  4. Club classics featuring Bb trickz - Charli xcx
  5. New York - Addison Rae

Top artists:

  1. Charli xcx
  2. Lorde
  3. Blood Orange
  4. Addison Rae
  5. PinkPantheress

I’m not shocked by the obscene amount of ‘brat’ nergy here, and promise there’s more variation when you dig deeper (hence the 70-year-old listening age). But I’m also totally on board with the ‘Art-Pop’ genre I have been boxed into. It proves to be the best kind of driving soundtrack – bop-along house beats and emotion-fuelled lyrics that you can scream-sing from the comfort of your car.

Kirsty Thatcher

Digital Editor

Top songs:

  1. The Subway - Chappell Roan
  2. Bowling Alley - Audrey Hobert
  3. Nobody’s Son - Sabrina Carpenter
  4. Manchild - Sabrina Carpenter
  5. Thirst Trap - Audrey Hobert

Top artists:

  1. Sabrina Carpenter
  2. Taylor Swift
  3. Olivia Dean
  4. Audrey Hobert
  5. Gracie Abrams

I’m not sure how I got a ‘listening age’ of 68, given my top artists and songs pretty closely resemble the taste of a teenage girl. I'll happily accept whatever basic title comes with a mix of Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Dean, Gracie Abrams, and Audrey Hobert. No regrets.

Samantha Corry

Social Media Coordinator

Top songs:

  1. Father Figure - George Michael
  2. Golden Line - Djo
  3. Time - Olivia Dean
  4. Supercut - Lorde
  5. Let Down - Radiohead

Top artists:

  1. Djo
  2. Oliva Dean
  3. Tyler, the Creator
  4. Radiohead
  5. Fleetwood Mac

I did not know I listened to Father Figure that much… lol. My music taste is quite random I have to say.

Jaime Carmody

Digital Marketing Specialist

Top songs:

  1. Nice to Each Other - Olivia Dean
  2. Loud - Olivia Dean
  3. David - Lorde
  4. No Reply - Tame Impala
  5. Baby Steps - Olivia Dean

Top artists:

  1. Olivia Dean
  2. Lorde
  3. Tame Impala
  4. Charlie xcx
  5. Phoebe Bridges

Well, it is safe to say I’ve been living in a Olivia Dean-filled universe this year. Honestly, I have music playing at all times, so the 37,278 minutes Spotify claims I listened to feels suspiciously low…

Jorgia Burke

Intern

Top songs:

  1. Thinking of You - Lexa Gates
  2. Velvet Skin - Dylan Atlantis
  3. Satisfy - Dylan Atlantis
  4. Make It on Your Own - Donny Hathaway
  5. Miss - Erika de Casier

Top artists:

  1. Navy Blue
  2. Lexa Gates
  3. Daniel Caesar
  4. Sade
  5. Laila!

I have reached the ripe age of 71, according to Spotify. Music has been a prominent vice of mine this year, which is nothing new. I am a seasoned veteran in rinsing and repeating songs that are equal parts comforting and tear-provoking, and usually injected with nostalgia. Sade, my queen, I’m looking at you. I was lucky enough to see my top artist, Navy Blue, perform last night, and yes, I will be doubling down to see him again on the Opera House steps tonight. Call me a true fan.

Stacey Gaskin

Consumer Revenue Manager

Top songs:

  1. I Had Some Help - Post Malone, Morgan Wallen
  2. Man I Need, - Olivia Dean
  3. I Told You Things - Gracie Abrams
  4. Just Like Johnny - Redferrin
  5. Speed Demon - Justin Bieber

Top artists:

  1. Morgan Wallen
  2. Taylor Swift
  3. Olivia Dean
  4. Justin Bieber
  5. Linkin Park

Bit of a confusing list for me this year. I can’t figure out what I was feeling based on these results. But I can say I do appreciate having such a wide taste in music. My ‘listening age’ came out at a shocking 21, but hey, I’ll take that as a positive.

Aleks Beare

Brand Art Director

Top songs:

  1. Satellite - Harry Styles
  2. Zombie - Yungblud
  3. Golden - Harry Styles
  4. Watermelon Sugar - Harry Styles
  5. Texas Sun - Khruangbin

Top artists:

  1. Khruangbin
  2. Harry Styles
  3. Yungblud
  4. The 1975
  5. (I'm keeping this one a secret)

Seems like I'm stuck in the past as I'm still awaiting Harry Styles' next album to drop. I'm an Apple Music user as I think the aesthetic is better, but feeling left out as I don't know my Spotify listening age... humph.

Emily Algar

Beauty Editor

Top songs:

  1. Cherie -  Darius & Darianna Everett
  2. This Must Be The Place - Talking Heads
  3. She Drives Me Crazy - Fine Young Cannibals
  4. California - The Lagoons
  5. Track 10 - Charli xcx

Top artists:

  1. Khruangbin
  2. Charli xcx
  3. Crazy P
  4. Jungle
  5. Flight Facilities

An interesting mix… You can tell I hyper-fixate on certain music. I think Crazy P has been in my top artist mix for the last five years. And Track 10 is a direct byproduct of Charli xcx closing laneway. I don’t make the rules… And a listening age 0f 80? My Dad would be proud.

Maggie Shapter

Designer & Producer

Top songs:

  1. Feisty - Smerz
  2. Easy - Smerz
  3. Roll The Dice - Smerz
  4. Hit My Head All Day - Dry Cleaning
  5. You’ve Got Time and I’ve Got Money - Smerz

Top artists:

  1. 1. Smerz
  2. Blood Orange
  3. H hunt
  4. Dry Cleaning
  5. Pink Pantheress

Smerz fan girl alert. I was struck with Scandi Art Pop fever this year. Apparently I’m a top listener of Smerz globally? It’s no surprise then that I’m counting down the days until the Smerz and James K show at Sydney’s City Recital Hall in March. Like so many others, I rinsed Blood Orange’s Essex Honey and couldn’t get enough of Dry Cleaning’s recent single release ‘Hit My Head All Day’. I’m hanging out for Dry Cleaning’s third studio album Secret Love, set for release early next year.
