Hedonistic raving. Dionysian, primitive, uncontrolled and pagan. Dripping in Daliesque surrealism. Drowning – Frank Kafka style – in “love, vodka or the sea”. The human experience is sometimes at its deepest, best, when it is completely deranged.
But when was the last time you really raved? Or revelled in anything for that matter? When you held the power to stop time and truly live. Unwitnessed, undocumented and free from our acute consciousness and overthinking. At liberty to give into enticements. Driven, enfranchised even, by our whims, desires and the new moon.
This issue is somewhat of an emergence. It is peak abundance. Living in a loud way after a period of quiet adjustment, of celebrating all we have withstood: an expression of an unmeasured pride for our resilience and a bold show of our innate energy.
It is a salute to the enduring, inescapable power of hotness. An embrace of attractiveness, in a superficial way that felt previously taboo. An indulgence in optimism, pleasure of the simple freedoms we do have within our reach. Such as; a conversation that goes for too long, takes unexpected turns and stays in your mind for days. Running late or not even showing up at all. All night scrabble where no one scores. Singing ourselves hoarse at a concert, phones off, lost in the songs we know by heart. Staying at the beach till the sun goes down and everything you own being Schnitzeled in sand. Watching sports for hours and hours on a five-star weather day. Reading, and not in a performative way. A double at a suburban movie cinema. Lost in something, anything, just for the fun out it. Fully immersed – physically, mentally – in everything but ourselves and our own minds.
It’s our time. To be all in.
