On those hot-as-hell New York summer days when my friends and I decide the beach is the only place to be, we day trip out to Rockaway Beach – a cluster of small beach communities popular among surfers, fisherman, artists, musicians (Patti Smith and Mac DeMarco have houses there) and sun seekers alike.
