The menswear brands you should know or have in your wardrobe

Let’s face it, these days most menswear collections are unisex collections and vice versa. Gender’s role in fashion is becoming frequently less prominent and unnecessary in today’s landscape. I find my closet is predominantly filled with “menswear” branded pieces in the way of party shirts, oversized tees and tailored trousers – I guess I just like the relaxed style. In the spirit of this styling, here I’ve rounded up the menswear brands that would most already be, or most definitely should be on your radar.

1. Bode

Since launching in 2018 with her Spring Summer 20 collection, Emily Adams Bode has fast tracked her success unlike any other. She was also the first female designer to show a menswear collection at NYFW. Vintage inspired DIY style pieces with modern workwear silhouettes. Also featuring prints, embroidery, applique, quilting, colour, texture and more. The Bode man is a desirable one.

2. Commas

It’s no wonder Australian designer Richard Jarman drew his inspirations from growing up on our iconic beaches and experiencing seaside sunrises and sunsets. The quintessential aquatic lifestyle. Commas was conceived to create the ideal resort wardrobe that transcends into the everyday. Lightwight silk shirts, linen trousers, relaxed swim shorts and original artwork prints. Necessary staples all year round (I own one of the party shirts myself).

3. DSQUARED2

Party shirts, animal prints, mesh tank tops and shell necklaces. Yes please. When you dissect the DSquared2 menswear collections (minus the heavily branded styles) into pieces, the options are endless. Raw denim, delicate lace tanks and shirts, tailored trousers and military jackets. Remember to have fun with your pairings.

4. JACQUEMUS

Everyone’s favourite. The lovable, joyous Simon Porte Jacqumeus was first and foremost a womenswear designer - achieving great success. His SS 19 introduction to menswear collection was equally as popular. From his now signature mini necklace bags, sweet injections of colour, relaxed tailoring, desirable pints and cool as ever styling. There’s a Jacquemus pieces for everyone (yes I own one of his party shirts too).
