BLACKPINK's Lisa is no stranger to the spotlight, but she’s proving she can do more than just perform on stage. After turning heads with her acting debut in season three of The White Lotus, the K-pop superstar is set to take on her first major film role in Netflix’s upcoming action thriller TYGO. Did someone say triple threat? Here's what we know about her latest on-screen accomplishment.
What is TYGO about?
For the uninitiated, TYGO is part of the Netflix and AGBO Extraction universe, which follows Tygo, a former child soldier turned mercenary. After a mission goes wrong, Tygo sets out for revenge against Korea’s criminal underworld.
The Extraction films (of which there are several), are all based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks, Joe Russo, and Anthony Russo. Each one depicts a different search-and-rescue mission taking place somewhere across the world. TYGO is the first time the story will descend on South Korea.
And no, you're not imagining it: TYGO isn't the first Extraction-related project to be announced in 2025. A new Extraction series was announced earlier this year, with the likes of Omar Sy, Boyd Holbrook and Natalie Dormer starring.
Who’s involved?
In addition to Lisa, we'll see Don Lee (who's best known for roles in The Roundup, Train to Busan, Marvel’s Eternals) and Squid Game star Lee Jin-uk in the cast.
Lisa has described the role as a dream come true, saying, “I’m so honoured to be a part of this project and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such incredible actors. Being in an action film has always been a dream of mine, and for my first movie role to be in such an exciting action film is a dream come true.”
When does it come out?
Unfortunately for us, Netflix hasn't yet announced an official release date for TYGO. We're guessing it could hit the streamer in late 2026, but we'll settle for a teaser trailer to tide us over until then...
