A new K-Pop film just got a star-studded cast

The world of K-pop is about to hit the big screen in a major way. Paramount Pictures and Hybe America (the brains behind KATSEYE) are teaming up on a brand-new musical drama set against the glitz and grind of the K-pop industry – and as of this week, we finally have more of the star-studded cast.

This film has been in development since 2020, moving from 20th Century Studios to Paramount, and now it’s finally taking shape. With its mix of seasoned stars, fresh faces, and a story that blends family drama with the high-stakes world of pop music, we're excited to see how this one takes shape.

Who is in the cast?

Already a buzzy project, the film has added nine more names to its lineup, including some of Korea’s most exciting talents. Sung Joon, known for his roles in Ghost Mansion and The Villainess, Kang So-ra of Strangers Again, and Hyongchol Lee from XO, Kitty are officially on board.

They’ll join previously announced stars Ji-young Yoo (Kpop Demon Hunters), multi-hyphenate Eric Nam (The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender), veteran actor Yoo Ji-tae (Oldboy), Tony Revolori (Spider-Man), and Gia Kim (XO, Kitty).

But that’s not all. Rising stars Ahin Lee, Renata Vaca (Mal De Amores), Silia Kapsis (the record-breaking Eurovision 2024 performer at just 17), Aliyah Turner (Power Book III: Raising Kanan), Shana Kim (Love Me), and Jubi Park have also joined the cast.

What is it about?

The film follows a young Korean-American woman who, against her family’s wishes, takes a chance at stardom by entering a televised competition to form the next K-pop girl group.

Where will it be filmed?

This is the first major American studio film to be shot entirely in South Korea.

When will it be released?

A release date is already set for 12 February 2027 – and with Netflix circling, it's .
