Introducing Public Figure: curated fashion for the conscious consumer

Honest luxury. Public Figure is the new online Australian retailer that pairs elevated fashion with consciousness, for the value-driven brand and customer.

With conscious fashion fairly high on our priority list these days, sometimes it can feel like a challenge to pick out the value-driven brands from the masses. With so much noise and so little time, finding spaces where it’s possible to trust your retailers value set and moral code is not a luxury most of us can afford. Bella Zito, founder of new Australian multi-brand retailer, Public Figure, is the exception to the rule, and luckily for us has launched the online destination “offering curated luxury fashion from local and international labels for emerging market of conscious consumers”.

In a time where our mindsets are shifting from mass consumerism to a more conscious, responsible approach, Public Figure has come at just the right moment - replete with some of our favourite labels, no less (think Peony Swim, Velvet Canyon, Maison Essentiele and more). Brands that champion honest processes and responsible production, while still offering luxury and premium quality products is a key part of Public Figure's identity and mission.

A quick Google search elicits plethora of information on brands giving back, doing good and acting responsibly. Finding them all in one shoppable place, with accessories to match, is the gap in the market that Zito has filled. “Public Figure is about supporting the luxury fashion labels doing good, while giving customers a way to shop according to their values. Ultimately, by bringing two communities together, Public Figure hopes to champion the movement towards a more honest approach to luxury fashion,” she explains.

In addition to working with value based-brands, Public Figure has partnered with artist Anisah Nasir to produce its own range of in-house towels which sees each zodiac sign take shape in line drawings of the female form. The towels are design-driven and sustainable, ticking our ‘good gift’ box this year, knowing that they are made by Indian artisans in partnership with environmentally and socially responsible manufacturer, Oritex.

Public Figure is now live, just in time for the holidays and feels, to us, like the perfect destination for gift-giving for those who have sustainability and consciousness in mind this season.
