Hunter Schafer will make an appearance in the next Yorgos Lanthimos film

Hunter Schafer will grace the screens later this year in what is sure to be a film with many a strange twist and turn. Yorgos Lanthimos, known for his sometimes bizarre (The Lobster) and sometimes disturbing (The Killing of a Sacred Deer) work, is releasing two films this year. The following films will come years after his last release in 2018 which was oscar nominee The Favourite.

The first film will be Poor Things which has been described as an R-rated Frankenstein-esque tale that features "graphic nudity." The film that follows will be an anthology film entitled And.

Who is involved?

It's shaping up to be quite a star-studded cast so far! We know that Hunter Schafer will be making an appearance, albeit a brief one. We will also see Jesse Plemons (The Power of the Dog), Hong Chau (The Wale), Emma Stone, and Willem Dafoe appear.

In an interview with Elle, Hunter spoke about her role in And. ‘It’s a little cameo, like two scenes. It’s cool though, and it’s great to be in there. We’d never met before but [Lanthimos] had seen Euphoria and was keeping my name around in case a part came up. So, when it did, I flew down to the set in New Orleans immediately,' she said.

What do we know about the film so far?

We know that And was shot in New Orleans, but much more at this stage. Thankfully, some of the cast have spilled one or two tidbits for us to ruminate on. It's definitely not a straight down the line plot. Hong revealed on the Marc Maron podcast that the film will twist an interesting narrative structure. "It’s three short stories and we play different characters in each one, so the same actors play different characters,” she said.

When will And be released?

While we can't tell you for sure, there have been whispers that Poor Things will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May. This would mean And could be to follow later in the year.

If you're wondering what else Hunter Scahfer has been up to, get excited with us about her upcoming role in The Hunger Games prequel set to be released in November this year.
