Watch 'Hijack', Apple TV+ new thriller starring Idris Elba

If you're looking for a new TV show to sink your teeth into – one that fulfils your need for action, drama, 90s nostalgia and a little bit of eye candy – then you've got to get your eyes across Apple TV+ new thriller television series Hijack.

The show, starring Idris Elba, is full of twists and turns, and is proof that the good old-fashioned mid-budget thriller is still as entertaining as ever – from the tense dialogue to the just-your-regular-guy protagonist.

The catch? Each episode is set in 'real time' – think that one episode from The Bearwhich certainly serves to take the already-tense plot of the series to another level. If you're a fan of Fox's 24 or Showtime's Homeland, this might just be your next favourite show.

What is 'Hijack' about?

Created by George Kay (Lupin) and Jim Field Smith (Criminal), the show's seven episodes follow a group of resourceful plane passengers trying to survive a hijacking on a seven-hour flight from Dubai to London.

Led by self-appointed leader Sam Nelson (played by Elba), a closer who specialises in finishing off business deals for large multi-national companies, the group jump into action to try to pacify and negotiate with the culprits.

The short season and episode length (each episode runs for about 45 minutes), coupled with the confined space of the space in which the series takes place, really does well to up the ante, keeping tensions high and dialogue snappy.

Who is in the cast of 'Hijack'?

Elba stars alongside Neil Maskell (Peaky Blinders, Sex Education) Max Beesley (Homeland, Suits), Ben Miles (The Crown, Andor), and Kaisa Hammarlund, Zora Bishop, Jeremy Ang Jones.
