Are we getting a 'High Fidelity' Season 2?

Ever since Hulu pulled the plug on High Fidelity after just one season, fans have been wondering if the record might spin again someday. And according to Oscar winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph, the cast hasn’t stopped thinking about it either – especially her and stylish series lead Zoë Kravitz.

What do we know so far?

In a recent chat with Rolling Stone, Randolph didn’t hesitate when asked if she’d return. “Absolutely,” she said. “We all feel the same way. Zoë and I talk about it all the time, like, ‘How can we figure this out?’ Give it back to the people, but really give it back to us, because we just really love it.” For fans of the show, this answer instantly reignites hope – the actors clearly aren’t ready to close the door on Rob and Cherise’s world.

Still, Randolph acknowledged that reviving a show like High Fidelity isn’t as simple as wanting it. “It’s a really tricky one, because you’re trying to recapture lightning in a bottle,” she explained. Sometimes, she added, you have to trust that a project lived the life it was meant to – while also staying open to whatever comes next.

Kravitz has been open about how much the cancellation stung. She told Elle earlier this year, “I keep on going back to Hulu and trying to get them to re-up it.”

So, will High Fidelity ever make a comeback? Who knows. But with the cast still talking about it “all the time” and fans continuing to root for more, the possibility isn’t completely off the table. Sometimes, all it takes is the right spark to drop the needle again.

What was the High Fidelity series about?

The 2020 series was a modern, gender-swapped riff on the original John Cusack film (which famously featured Kravitz’s mother, Lisa Bonet) and Nick Hornby’s beloved novel of the same name. In the Hulu series remake, Kravitz starred as Robyn “Rob” Brooks, a Brooklyn record-store owner reexamining her past breakups with charm, snark, and a killer soundtrack. Randolph’s Cherise – Rob’s devoted friend and Championship Vinyl co-worker – quickly became a fan favourite.

Despite warm reviews from both critics and viewers, Hulu canceled the series after one season. To make matters worse, the finale left things hanging: Rob finally chose Clyde (Jake Lacy) after wavering between him and her ex, Mac (Kingsley Ben-Adir). But Clyde’s joking prediction – that their chances were a bleak “9%” – felt like the setup for a second chapter viewers never got.

Where can I watch it?

Season one of the High Fidelity series is still available to watch on Hulu, or Amazon Prime or on Disney+ in Australia.
