Fresh out the oven, it’s time to meet our ‘Taste’ cover star, Hannah Wick

Hannah Wick cover star

Good taste or bad taste? As far as cover star Hannah Wick is concerned, the choice is simple. Both. Taste, she believes, is in the eye of the beholder, and frankly, what’s the point in doing this thing called life without a few daring moments for the history books along the way? Faux fur hats and bright colours a non-negotiable, of course.

The Sydney-originating model knows how to make it international – and boy, do they love her. A House favourite for the remarkable Maria Grazia Chiuri and Dior; she's seen her fair share of runways and starred in more than one campaign. The likes of JW Anderson, Jil Sander and Altuzurra can't seem to get enough of her either. But now that she's back on home soil, some of the country's most notable designers are finally getting their chance again with the flaming talent.

My first memory of modelling is … Walking the Dion Lee show at the Opera House. I was terrified of tripping in my heels. My favourite film isThree Colours Blue directed by Krzysztof Kieślowski. Your signature look? Lots of bright colours and an outrageous faux fur hat.

On set, she's effervescent, daring – dangerous almost. She gives you a look that entices you to come closer. The sweet reality behind closed doors is that she's not as tough as she lets off. "I'm actually pretty sensitive..." she tells us, going on to reveal that her friends would describe her as "blunt but deeply loving".

For our Taste issue, Wick is joined by some of Australia’s freshest faces. Starring alongside models Apuol, Tiama, Tatyana and Mimi adorned in Tiffany & Co. jewels designed for the ultimate tastemaker.

The quality I admire most in others is … Great story telling. A taste I will never forgetMexico City Micheladas – a perfect balance of flavours. My fondest childhood memory is … Visiting art galleries in Paris with my parents. My words to live by are … You’re never too old to start something new.

Wick is moving fast, and that’s exactly how she likes it. Coming along for the ride? The playlist has already been set. Kelela’s debut mixtape, Cut 4 Me, on repeat the whole way, baby.
