The rise of Glossier will be explored in new TV series from Amazon

glossier tv series

The Glossier news keeps on coming. Earlier this month, the millennial pink beauty brand finally started shipping to Australia. A relief, I'm sure, for anyone running dangerously low on their personal stocks of Boy Brow. On top of this, The New York Times writer Marisa Meltzer came out with a tell-all book about Glossier, which charts the company's gleaming rise and eventual slump under the leadership of original girl boss, founder and former CEO Emily Weiss. To cap it off, Amazon has just acquired the rights to adapt the book, Glossy: Ambition, Beauty and the Inside Story of Emily Weiss’ Glossier. All the details on the forthcoming TV series, below.

What is the Glossy TV show about?

So far, it's unclear what exact direction the TV adaptation will head in, given that no writer or showrunner is attached. We know that if all goes well, it's expected to be an ongoing series. However, due to the source material, the series will cut to the bone of Glossier's success, discussing its cult-like audience and genius marketing strategy. We imagine the series will also chart Weiss' rise from Teen Vogue superintern on The Hills to blogger to beauty mogul.

Who is behind the Amazon adaptation?

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Amazon MGM Studios was triumphant in the IP bidding war to secure the rights to adapt Glossy. While, the search for a showrunner begins, we know that Pet Sematary’s Lindsey Anderson Beer and her production company LAB Brew have signed on to produce the show. Alexandra Banks and Spencer Walken will jump on board as executive producers, too.

The only question left is who will play Emily Weiss?

Is there a release date?

Not yet, unfortunately. However, if you've followed Glossier thus far, we know you're well-accustomed with waiting.
