The first trailer for ‘Forbidden Fruits’ is as camp and star-studded as we expected

Emma Chamberlain 'Forbidden Fruits'

Is there anything Emma Chamberlain can't do? The internet It girl has officially landed her first film, and she's in the company of some of our favourite young actors. Titled Forbidden Fruits, the project has officially been acquired by IFC Films and AMC Networks’ horror streamer Shudder, meaning it's entirely likely Chamberlain will be gracing the screens of a cinema near you before too long. So, what is Forbidden Fruits all about? We're breaking it down, below.

What is Forbidden Fruits about?

According to reports, the film follows a retail employee, Apple, who secretly runs a "witchy femme cult" in the basement of the mall after hours, along with two of her colleagues. But when a new hire infiltrates the group, "the women are forced to face their own poisons or succumb to a bloody fate." The plot is elusive, we'll admit, but it definitely doesn't sound like anything we've ever seen before.

Who is involved in Forbidden Fruits?

Here's where things get interesting. In addition to Chamberlain making her acting debut, Forbidden Fruits has also cast Lola Tung, Lili Reinhardt, Victoria Pedretti, and Alexandra Shipp. It's not clear yet which part each of the actors has been awarded, but if we had to guess, we'd say they make up the employees-turned-cult-members quota.

Behind the scenes, the film is the work of co-writers Meredith Alloway and Lily Houghton. The story was adapted from Houghton's play Of the Women Came the Beginning of Sin, and Through Her We All Die, while Alloway is making her feature directorial debut with the project.

“We are thrilled to join forces with the creative minds behind Forbidden Fruits. Meredith Alloway and Lily Houghton delivered a bewitching script that struck us as a project we felt deeply compelled to onboard early and ensure a theatrical release. With one of the brightest and most hotly anticipated cast line ups, Forbidden Fruits is gearing up to be a must see in 2026,” Head of AMC Networks’ Films Group Scott Shooman said.

When will Forbidden Fruits be released?

Filming has now wrapped, with a 2026 release date planned.
