This free-spirited Prefall collection was designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi through an exclusive collaboration with Vides, an LA-based visual artist and illustrator.
Vides is one of the most interesting creators in the contemporary art scene. He's known for his unique, marker-style and cartoon-esque creations - murals, sculptures, drawings and more. Now, Vides has taken his signature black & white treatment to Fendi for a range of Womens, Mens and Kids ready to wear pieces.
Aligning with Vides' signature, California Sky works with a primarily black and white colour palette and features his trademark marker stylings as a motif through the collection. The pieces are also brought to life with subtle touches of sky blue and wisteria violet and modern print stylings.
The result it s a charming , free-spirited collection, with a 3D, tromp-l’oeil effect by mapping the seams and edges of a range of urban and resort styles.
And of course Vides has reworked the Fendi stamp and the House's iconic FF logo for use across these exciting and graphic pieces.
The Womens collection combines streetwear staples and resort styles that are comprised of lightweight fabrications, think cycle shorts, windbreakers and compact knits. But California Sky also spans to kaftans, maillots and shirt dresses - all you need for your next beach escape.
Some of Fendi's most iconic accessories have also been given a little of the Vides treatment. In the realm of bags, everything from the Baguette iconic to the Roma shopper. Eyewear too. The best-selling Fendrirama sunglasses have a cartoon-esque update for this collection - as have the Mens Botanical Fendi sunglasses.
The Mens and Kids collections are similarly styled, where tromp l’oeil effects, shaded details, flowers and revisited FF logo patterns give a twist to ordinarily classic pieces.
It's a collection for the history books and certainly one that will land as a cult favourite. We think it's fun, fresh and perfect for statement dressing.
