The makeup looks we plan on wearing all summer

Summer beauty should be easy, smudgy, intuitive: think gleaming skin, pops of impactful colour, pared-back lashes and brows. When the temperature soars, your makeup looks need to lean in. Don't worry if products run or melt a little... it's all part of the fun.

Whether it's a glossy skin finish or a perfectly pink blush, below are three easy (we promise!) summer makeup looks to try this season.

This look is all about gleaming skin. If you're prone to shine, some of this should come naturally... embrace it! But otherwise there's plenty of products out there that will impart a glossy finish. Start with a luminous SPF, we love Alpha-H Dawn to Dusk (it has a fluid texture and skincare benefits in the form of niacinamide plus vitamin E). For extra sheen, layer Raaie's Sun Milk Drops — not only do they afford sun protection, but have a silky texture and pearly sheen to deliver a lit-from-within finish. For extra bronze without the UV exposure, sweep on some of CHANEL's iconic Creme Bronzer. it has a melting texture that's wonderfully natural when buffed in. As far as gloss goes, we love a multi-purpose balm like Lucas' Pawpaw Ointment. Add it to lips, the cheekbones, even your eyelids for all-over gloss.

Bright Blush

Blush is designed to mimic the flushed look that comes from spending too much time spent in the sun, minus the actual sun damage. Instead of applying it to the apples of your cheeks only, bring your formula upwards past the temples, blending it into the hairline and diffusing excess into the eyelids. It's fresh, modern and perfect for party season. We love Westman Atelier's Baby Cheeks Blush in Bichette.

If you want to look like you spent a long time thinking about your summer makeup look when you in fact spent two minutes, it has to be a red lip. You could opt for a classic matte shade, but there's something about a shiny finish that says summer. The RMS Beauty Liplights Cream Lip Gloss in Rhapsody has a deep brick-red hue that's modern and fresh, plus the lipid-rich formula will nourish your lips. For extra shine, layer on a tinted oil like Clarins' Water Lip Stain (you can even apply it first to build up longer lasting pigment). Keep the rest of your face bare for impact.
