As part of its Fall launch, Dior is unveiling a brand new bag design. Introducing the Dior Bobby.
Like many other signature Dior pieces, this new bag comes with a story.
Designed by creative director for Dior Maria Grazia Chiuri, the Dior Bobby was named for Christian Dior's dog, Bobby. If you are familiar with Dior, you'll know that adorable Bobby has lent his name to many other designs over the years.
“Each collection contained a suit earmarked for success called Bobby,” the founding couturier wrote in his memoirs.
Bobby also inspired a limited-edition perfume bottle, designed by Fernand Guery-Colas. He was a very well-loved, loyal pet that has a special place in the heart of this House.
Inspired by a wealth of precious memories, the Dior Bobby was born. It's a satchel bag designed for elegance and for the modern lifestyle. A gently curved body is adorned with a flap, buckle closure and of course, the House's signature CD monogram.
The Dior Bobby is crafted from box calfskin. The individual pieces are cut and then assembled one by one and finished by hand. To experience the full process, it's necessary for us to take a trip to Italy where the House’s ateliers work and create. You can see the process yourself in the Dior Bobby Savoir Faire video which shows the process from initial sketching all the way to the final adornments. Just like with the Dior Gem bag, an incredible level of detail goes into crafting one of these pieces.
The Dior Bobby is available in three sizes from a petite iteration for just the essentials, all the way to a generously-sized carry-all. As for colours, there are four: black, cream, camel and blue Dior Oblique canvas.
A new signature of timeless modernity. This resolutely couture piece is a collectable and everyday icon. An object of desire that expresses the contemporary essence of Dior now more than ever.
The Dior Bobby is available now at your nearest Dior boutique.
