Charlotte Le Bon’s style has this wonderfully low-key, self-possessed ease – the kind of insouciant Frenchness that makes you think she’s just naturally chic without trying (and honestly, she is). Even when she’s dressed to the nines for a fashion show or a premiere, there’s always an undercurrent of simplicity and groundedness running through her choices.
What’s funny is that Le Bon herself fully admits she’s not a fashion maximalist. As she put it during Paris Fashion Week: “I’m the most basic, minimalist. I’m really, really boring, fashion-wise. I just wear jeans and T-shirts that I’ve worn for years.” She says she rarely buys clothes and isn’t big on trends – proof that her effortless charm isn’t curated; it’s just who she is.
Even when she steps into bolder looks, there’s usually a wink of character or storytelling behind it – she's already making rounds on the internet for her most recent Jacquemus campaign where she embodies a maternal character walking around her apartment. And speaking about one of her CHANEL red carpet outfits, she said, “We like to create some kind of character in our heads… we thought that I looked like a little magician at school.” It’s very her: playful, imaginative, but still pared back.
Her beauty approach is equally unfussy. She once laughed about how simple her routine is: “I wear nothing. Concealer for redness and a mascara, if I look tired.” For someone who plays glamorous characters and regularly appears at major fashion events, she stays refreshingly uninterested in over-polishing herself.
And honestly, this anti-fuss attitude has been with her since childhood. “I was always going toward the boys section,” she remembered, even as her mother begged her to try something more feminine. But Le Bon stuck to her instincts then, and she continues to now.
At the heart of it all, her style philosophy really comes down to one thing: “Less is more. Be comfortable. Don’t give a s–t about what anyone thinks.” And honestly? That attitude might be the most French Girl thing about her.
