CHANEL Métiers d’Art is returning to the Big Apple

CHANEL is heading back to New York City – and it’s not just any show. Later this year, we'll bear witness to new creative director Matthieu Blazy's debut Métiers d’Art collection for the iconic French house, marking CHANEL’s return to the Big Apple for the first time since Karl Lagerfeld’s legendary final show in 2018.

“It was Karl’s last show, so we always get a little nostalgic,” said Bruno Pavlovsky, President of CHANEL, in a recent interview with WWD. “But going back to New York with Matthieu and the beginning of a new season is super exciting.”

And exciting it is. Not only does this show promise to honour the House’s heritage, but it also marks the beginning of a fresh chapter for CHANEL.

When and where will it be held?

There isn't an exact date set for the show yet, and details about the exact venue are still under wraps, but one thing’s for sure: all eyes will be on CHANEL’s return to the city that never sleeps — and the man now steering its creative vision.

What is the Métiers d’Art collection?

For those unfamiliar, the Métiers d’Art collection is where CHANEL goes all-in on craftsmanship, showcasing the extraordinary work of its artisan ateliers. ThinkL embroidery, beading, and tailoring at their most intricate. It’s a celebration of the artistry that makes CHANEL, well, CHANEL.

What do we expect from Blazy?

Now, with Blazy at the helm, expectations are high. He’s stepping into the spotlight following Virginie Viard’s departure, and he’s bringing a very personal connection to the city. Blazy spent years in New York, working under Raf Simons at Calvin Klein, and knows how to tap into the city’s raw creative energy. And of course, his most recent years at the helm of Bottega Veneta couldn't be described as anything other than a hit.
