Beverage company CAPI has announced the launch of its sixth all-natural Sunset Tonic, a pink-hued ode to coastal sunsets seen across the globe. The tonic – launching in partnership with Malfy Gin – is a coming together of two iconic brands that we in the RUSSH team always turn to on a sunny, warm day. 

The CAPI Sunset Tonic ideally pairs with the citrus-flavoured Limone Malfy Gin, especially so when poured over ice in a piece of stylish glassware. It’s smooth, refreshing and the embodiment of summer days spent in Amalfi – even when you haven’t been able to make the trip abroad. Once taking a sip, vibrant notes of tart, sweet pink grapefruit and mandarin abound, underscored by hints of lake salt from Mount Zero.

With 25 per cent less sugar than predecessor CAPI Classic Tonic, consider it the reinvention of a cult-beverage we hold close to our hearts. Aiding the Italian-evocative essence is the sun-ripened lemons and Amalfi lemon peel, alongside hand-picked juniper berries making the Malfy Con Limone gin an essential cog in any at-home bar. 

It would be remiss of us not to share our go-to cocktail combination, championing the new tonic of course. With the CAPI Sunset Tonic as your base, a dash (or two, we’re not here to dictate proportions) of Malfy Con Limone and a lemon wedge as garnish, you can settle in for an evening watching the sunset, perhaps accompanied by a trusty book or a gaggle of friends to soak up the glorious weather. 

Adding to the elevated feel of the brand, CAPI enlisted Victorian glassware artist Billy Crellin of Studio Dokola to recast more than 200 recycled bottles, creating a limited capsule of mouth-blown tumblers in celebration of the Sunset Tonic release. With sustainable practices inherent to the brand, it was only logical a local artist and the beverage company came together in harmony to cultivate a refined sensibility for the new release drink.
