Bob Dylan stars in Celine’s Portrait of a Musician series by Hedi Slimane

Bob Dylan Celine

Ever since Hedi Slimane took the helm at Celine back in 2018, he has been fusing his knack for design (and more recently, the revival of indie sleaze) with his passion for photography and music and the arts, producing a series of images titled Portrait of a Musician. The latest subject to sit for the Celine image director, is one of the most influential rock stars and lyricists of a generation, Bob Dylan.

Shot in Miami, the 81-year-old legend poses for Slimane dressed head-to-toe in current Celine, wearing a classic black leather jacket, slim jeans, and signature aviators in a series of images.

Slimane's portraits have previously featured musicians such as Jack White, Julian Casablancas, Paul Banks and Leikeli47 among others.

We hardly have to harp on about Dylan's cultural significance and the effect he has had on the music industry, however as a quick refresher on his accolades, he is generally regarded as one of the most groundbreaking artists of our time. Since emerging into New York City’s Greenwich Village folk music scene in the early 1960s, Dylan has sold more than 125 million records and amassed a singular body of work that includes some of the greatest and most popular songs the world has ever known.

In December 2016, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature by the Swedish Academy “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.” In 2012, he was awarded America’s highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, by President Barack Obama. In addition to winning 10 Grammy Awards, Dylan has achieved six entries in the Grammy Hall of Fame, which honors recordings of “qualitative or historical significance” at least 25 years old.
