Every Jenny Han book you should read after ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’

best jenny han books

Here at RUSSH, our affinity for The Summer I Turned Pretty is well documented. And we're not alone. The third (and final) season has amassed an impressively loyal audience, with 25 million viewers tuning in in the first week alone, eager to see how the messy love triangle at the centre of the series will pan out.

If you're a fan of the show, you're likely already aware that we owe our obsession to Jenny Han — not only the series' creator and showrunner, but she also first penned the storyline in three separate novels: The Summer I Turned Pretty, It's Not Summer Without You, and We'll Always Have Summer. And luckily for us, this trilogy isn't Han's only masterpiece. So, as we count down the days until the next episode drops,  there's no better time to get stuck into her catalogue. Below, we're bringing you our guide to Jenny Han's best books worth reading next.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy

To All The Boys I've Loved Before

Lara Jean writes secret love letters — one for every boy she’s ever loved — and hides them in a box under her bed. They’re just for her, and she never intends to send them. So what happens when the letters somehow get mailed out? Chaos, obviously — but also the potential blossom of new love with Peter. A must-read for hopeful romantics.

PS. I Still Love You

Book two in this series sees Lara Jean navigating what she thinks is her first real relationship with Peter — thanks to the letters that were mistakenly sent out in book one. But their romance turns messy when an old flame — and a fellow recipient of an old unsent letter — reappears. As Lara Jean tries to navigate loyalty, first love, and growing up, she must decide what it really means to be in a relationship… and whether some things are better left in the past.

Always And Forever, Lara Jean

In her final year of high school, Lara Jean is faced with the biggest decisions of her life: college, family, and the future of her relationship with Peter. Things become particularly tricky when the couple's plan to go to the same university doesn't exactly pan out. It's a heartfelt conclusion to a story about first love, family, and finding your own path.

Burn for Burn trilogy (co-written with Siobhan Vivian)

Burn For Burn

Another New York Times best seller, the events of Burn for Burn take place on the idyllic Jar Island, with three very differnt girls all secretly plotting revenge at the centre of it all. There's Kat, who is tired of being bullied by her old best friend; Lillia, who is enraged to find out her so-called guy friend has been hooking up with her younger sister; and Mary, who is haunted by traumatic events with a boy from her past. As the story evolves, the trio learn that getting even comes at a cost.

Fire With Fire

In book two, the three girls face the aftermath of their revenge plot. Without giving too much away, their attempt to move on from their revenge pact is complicated by Mary, as they realise her connection to Jar Island is more layered — and more dangerous — than anyone could have imagined.

Ashes To Ashes

The final book in the trilogy is about as dramatic as they come. The girls’ plan for justice has unleashed something much bigger — and more terrifying — than they bargained for. With Mary’s secrets fully revealed, Kat and Lillia are forced to confront the reality of what they’ve done… and what they might need to do to stop it. Jenny Han expertly blends high school drama with a supernatural twist.
